** Dear Neighbors,
------------------------------------------------------------
In order to protect the well-being of all New Yorkers, the City Council has closed its headquarters at 250 Broadway and all of its district offices -- including my district office at 563 Columbus Avenue -- for the time being.

The closure of City Council headquarters means that all legislative and budgetary activities are currently suspended.

These extraordinary measures are intended to slow the spread of the coronavirus within our population so that the number of cases remains manageable.

During these very difficult times, my staff and I are 100 percent committed to providing constituent services to every extent possible. We are setting up a virtual office, and you will be able to contact us via phone, email, and social media.

I will be emailing updated contact information for our office shortly. You can always check my website ([link removed]) and Facebook page ([link removed]) for the latest updates. Email information for my team can be found here ([link removed]) .

(If you are having difficulty seeing any of these links, click on the link at the top of this email so you can open the email in your web browser.)

What all of us do in the next few days matters greatly. Please stay home and avoid public gatherings as much as possible. The City has expanded restrictions to our public school system, restaurants, bars and theaters, and large gatherings generally.

For up-to-date information about all of these measures and how to keep you and your family safe, go to nyc.gov/health ([link removed]) or call 311.

REMINDER: CENSUS 2020
It's time to get counted! From March 12th- 20th, households across the country will receive a mailed invitation, asking them to complete the 2020 U.S. Census. Every household will have the option of responding online, by phone, or by mail. Learn more here ([link removed]) and here ([link removed]) .

The Census is working with the U.S. Postal Service to stagger the delivery of these invitations over several days. This way they can spread out the number of users responding online, and they’ll be able to serve you better if you need help over the phone. A final reminder postcard will be sent in late April. Census workers will then begin to visit households that have not yet responded.

I am strongly urging every New Yorker to complete the Census in a timely fashion. The U.S. Census is one of the most important activities in civic life and by participating, each of us helps to make it as accurate as possible. The 2020 Census will provide data that is more important than ever – affecting electoral districts and political representation, and how hundreds of billions in federal funding, including for healthcare, are spent.
Warmly,
