John, this is alarming. Because of Texas Republicans’ near total abortion ban, a woman was forced to flee her home state to end a pregnancy that was not viable and which, if carried to term, could have harmed her and prevented her from having children in the future. This isn’t a scary, dark, apocalyptic novel. It’s happening in real life to real people.

This is tragic, but not entirely surprising given the spread of GOP policies across the country that prevent women from receiving the care they need. We deserve better – and as your representative, it’s my duty to fight this deadly extremism at every opportunity.

In the months ahead, I’m committed to fighting to restore women’s reproductive rights in the same way our opponents took them – by fighting tactically and strategically at every opportunity.

I will stand up to people like our new Speaker, election-denier Mike Johnson, or Sen. Tommy Tuberville, and his threats to the security of our country. 

And, as Election Day approaches, I will do everything in my power to secure the five seats Democrats need to retake their House majority – so that something this unthinkable never happens again.

As long as you choose me as your representative, I will not stop fighting. And today, I’m humbly asking: Will you stand with me as I do this critical work?
