Due to widespread event cancellations, TTB issued the following guidance after a request from NBWA: “Given the unexpected and widespread nature of the concerns involving COVID-19, TTB will not consider returns of alcohol beverage products purchased to sell during such cancelled events to violate Federal consignment sales rules provided the products were not initially purchased or sold with the privilege of return.” Read more of TTB’s statement on their website.

The beverage industry is constantly evolving and the recent virus outbreak is shifting consumer trends. As consumers practice “social distancing” by staying home, off-premise sales are spiking, said National Beer Wholesalers Association Chief Economist Lester Jones. “We’re in a constant state of market evolution of what, how and where we drink,” Jones said.
A New Jersey bar is being charged for purchasing dozens of cases of beers from an unauthorized distributor. Police caught the owner unloading cases of beer from a private vehicle and bringing them into the restaurant. A total of 46 cases of beer were seized in the investigation.
