The Seattle Times: This year, WA’s apple growers have reasons to be thankful

“In this year of abundance, Washington growers can also be grateful for the reopening of a large foreign market for our apples. Early in the year, U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell, and U.S. Reps. Kim Schrier and Dan Newhouse helped bring about an agreement with India to remove the retaliatory tariffs on apples in place since 2018.”

NCWlife: Schrier, Newhouse say ‘yea’ to ousting Santos

Fourth District GOP U.S. Rep. Dan Newhouse voted with the majority today to eject his fellow Republican from the House of Representatives. There were 311 votes in favor of bouncing the Long Island congressman, who faces federal charges of financial fraud.

Also among those yes votes was Democrat U.S. Rep. Kim Schrier, whose 8th District includes Chelan and Kittitas counties.

Feedstuffs: Innovative Feed Enhancement and Economic Development Act of 2023 introduced

“We thank Representatives Greg Pence, Kim Schrier, Jim Baird, and Angie Craig for introducing the Innovative FEED Act in the House of Representatives. This important measure would improve the Food and Drug Administration’s framework for approving animal feed ingredients. U.S. dairy farmers often to choose to use safe and effective feed additives on a voluntary basis as they further their global leadership as agricultural innovators. This bipartisan effort will boost them even further, and we look forward to working with the bill’s sponsors to enact it into law,” said Jim Mulhern, president and CEO, National Milk Producers Federation.
