Last month, we introduced you to Coach D, a Sr. Program Manager who started with Playworks 11 years ago. That first year, he knew he had the power to lead young students with his connection and energy.

But what he didn’t realize was how his work would inspire one student in particular to follow in his footsteps.

As a fourth grade student, Alaina was shy and reserved. She looked up to the confidence and joy that Coach D brought to the playground every day.

So Alaina joined Playworks’ Junior Coach Leadership Program and led younger students at recess where she discovered a sense of self that was foundational to her personal growth.

Today, Alaina has become one of 353 Playworks coaches across the country creating those same opportunities for a new generation of kids. She’s still inspired by Coach D’s confidence, emanates her own, and leads a new generation of Junior Coaches building their confidence now.
