When Sheila and I set out to start TakeCharge in 2021, we knew the mission and vision of this organization far surpassed anything we could imagine. The TakeCharge mission is bigger than any one person - unwinding decades of destruction in the black community doesn't happen overnight. This is very personal for us as we've watched friends and family follow a path of destruction when the American dream was within reach for everyone - regardless of skin color.
2023 has been a humbling year for TakeCharge - the interest in our message, the volunteers stepping out in their communities to impact change, and the coalitions we have aligned with throughout the country tell me we are doing the right work- it's hard to convey our sincere thank you for supporting us. If there is one thing we learned this year - we are just getting started.
