As the GGWash team prepares for our winter break, it’s hard to believe it will be 2024 when we’re back. Check out the rest of this email for some transit-oriented events to plan for in the new year.
2023 has been a whirlwind. We supported a slate of bills that will improve road safety in DC and pushed for investments in bus infrastructure. We fought to prevent the proposed townhouse ban in Prince George’s County and endorsed pro-housing candidates for local office across Maryland and Northern Virginia (most of whom won!). And so, so much more.
I’m personally thrilled that this year, more than 1,200 of you came out to events we hosted. That is so many people! Thank you so much for showing up. I am so proud to have the opportunity to work with all of you to help realize our shared vision of a greater Greater Washington.

Join us next month for our first event of the year, a space for planners, advocates, and other community leaders of color to connect and meet other folks who are engaged with centering equity in housing, transportation, and land-use policy. Every year, transportation enthusiasts get together on the first Saturday in January to share their ideas and map out new possibilities. This year, Transportation camp will take place on Saturday, January 6 at George Mason University’s Arlington campus. As cities across the country work to reconnect communities divided by harmful infrastructure, pedestrian fatalities continue to rise, and new technology presents opportunities and challenges for the future of transportation, there’s no better way to start a new year.
