Message from Congressman Scott Fitzgerald

Good morning!

Last week, the House took an important step in formalizing the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. For the past year, we’ve followed the facts and the money, building a record of evidence revealing how Joe Biden knew, was involved, and benefited from his family’s corrupt influence peddling schemes.

By formalizing our impeachment inquiry into President Biden, we will be able to continue corroborating and strengthening the evidence congressional investigators already have pointing to abuse of power and violation of public trust.

This resolution sets forth specific procedures regarding the impeachment inquiry, formalizes the impeachment inquiry helping to remove legal ambiguity, and ensures the American people will receive the answers they deserve.

Have a great week!

- Scott

Summarizing the Evidence

With the impeachment inquiry formally set into motion, I’d like to take a moment to recap the evidence House Republicans have gathered so far in our impeachment inquiry. Here’s where we’re at…

  1. Burisma Bribery
    1. Hunter Biden sat on Burisma’s board.
    2. He was unqualified to do so.
    3. Burisma pressured him to get D.C. to act on policy issues in Ukraine.
    4. Joe Biden did just that—Vadym Pozharskyi suggested high level U.S. officials come to Ukraine and talk with Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin and President Petro Poroshenko about Mykola Zlochevsky’s investigations. Prosecutor General Shokin was investigating Burisma and Burisma’s owner, Zlochevsky for fraud. Prosecutor General Shokin is the Ukranian government official Vice President Biden demanded Poroshenko fire.
      1. Joe Biden himself admitsto calling an audible on the plane to withhold a billion-dollar loan unless Poroshenko fires Shokin.
    5. Laundered Money–
      1. The Oversight Committee spelled out how a money trail began from Hunter Biden’s CCP linked associate and traveled through a number of Biden family accounts before Sara Biden finally cut a check to Joe Biden for $40,000 for a “loan repayment.”
      2. James Biden, President Biden’s brother, received a $200,000 loan from a financially distressed and failing rural hospital operator into his personal bank account. The same day, James Biden wrote a $200,000 check – the same amount from the same personal account – to Joe Biden and said that was for “loan repayment.” According to bankruptcy court documents, James Biden received these funds in the first place “based upon representations that his last name, ‘Biden,’ could ‘open doors’ and that he could obtain a large investment from the Middle East based on his political connections.
    6. Bank Memorandum on Shell Companies– Biden family members and business associates created a web of over 20 companies—most were limited liability companies formed during Joe Biden’s vice presidency. They received incremental payments over time to different bank accounts to conceal the source of the funds and reduce the conspicuousness of the total amounts made into the Biden bank accounts.
    7. Pattern of Lying– Joe Biden claims he never spoke to his family about their business dealings; his family never received $1 million in payments through a third party; and his son never made money in China. Oversight has proven these statements to be false.

Voted to Pass the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act

Last week the House voted to pass H.R. 1147, the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, which provides students greater milk choices in their school cafeteria.

Several recent studies examining the effect of higher fat milk consumption found that it was associated with lower childhood obesity and concluded that dietary guidelines that recommend reduced-fat milk versions might not lower the risk of childhood obesity. Higher consumption of full-fat dairy has been shown to be associated with lower risk of total body fat mass in children and increases satiety in students.

This legislation was a win all around for Wisconsinites, particularly for our farmers and students. Outdated government definitions have long vilified whole milk as an unhealthy drink option for students, when the reality is that milk has 13 essential nutrients that are critical for proper development. I was pleased to see this legislation passed and I look forward to putting whole milk back in our school cafeterias.

Passed the National Defense Authorization Act

Last week, I also voted to pass the Conference Report on the FY24 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which included key conservative victories, including securing servicemembers the largest pay raise in twenty years, ending the liberal ideology infiltrating the U.S. military, and a Parents’ Bill of Rights for military families.

Our nation can only be as strong as the forces that protect us, and I was proud to move forward legislation that bolsters the men and women who keep America free.
