MEDIA ADVISORY AND PRESS RELEASE

Congressman Al Green Hosts Appreciation Ceremony Honoring the Employees of Fiesta Store #24 for their Exemplary Courage During the Lethal COVID-19 Pandemic

(Houston, TX) — On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, Congressman Al Green will host a special Certificate of Congressional Recognition ceremony for the courageous leadership team and employees of Fiesta Store #24. This event will take place at 11240 Fondren, Houston, Texas 77096, and is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m. CT. Congressman Al Green welcomes the opportunity to salute additional unsung COVID-19 front-line heroes. For information on how to have your front-line heroes recognized, call (713) 383-9234 and ask for Rachael Rodriguez or Crystal Webster.

Congressman Al Green will extend his appreciation and recognition to the courageous employees of Fiesta Store #24, acknowledging their commitment and service as unsung heroes during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. When thousands were dying daily and people were advised to stay at home, they were among the many thousands of unsung heroes working as stockers, cashiers, and store maintenance personnel. This certificate of congressional recognition ceremony will celebrate and salute these employees who put their lives at risk to provide essential necessities for the residents of Houston.

Congressman Al Green stated, “The City of Houston suffered nearly 9,000 deaths due to COVID-19, and Texas reported 14 percent of the population had symptoms due to long-term COVID. Amidst the crisis, they not only facilitated the availability of essential items for families in need but also courageously put their health on the line to serve others. In acknowledging the steadfast dedication of Fiesta Store #24 employees during the challenging and life-threatening landscape of the COVID-19 pandemic, we commend their resilience as courageous paragons of civic duty. This is a testament to their selflessness and the spirit that defines our great city of Houston.”
