“Judge dismisses challenge to Minnesota law that allows some felons to vote” – KSTP

John,

When a judge in Mille Lacs County was attempting to rule the Restore the Vote Act unconstitutional last month, I stepped in to defend it. The Minnesota Court of Appeals ruled in our favor and reaffirmed one of the biggest wins from this year’s historic legislative session.

Today, I’m proud to announce that yet another effort to undermine the voting rights of 50,000 formerly incarcerated Minnesotans has been soundly rejected in court.

This ruling makes two things clear: The legislature has the ability to decide when voting rights are restored to Minnesotans, and the Restore the Vote Act is constitutional. It’s a victory for democracy when we need it more than ever.

Republican lawmakers continue to seize on Trump's Big Lie and use his false claims as cover to flood state legislatures across the country with voter suppression bills. Many have already passed. I will always fight to protect your fundamental democratic rights from those who seek to suppress the vote. But I can’t do it alone.

Your support truly powers all of my work. And with our first and only public deadline of the year coming up on December 31, I’m asking you to help us prove that we’re more than ready to defend our values up and down the ballot next year and beyond.

John, will you send a donation that works for you today to help us reach our $75,000 end-of-year goal and continue working together to help people afford their lives and live with dignity, safety, and respect?

Thank you,

Keith Ellison
