Hi John,
Per SB 763, school districts in Texas must vote on whether or not to adopt a policy authorizing schools to employ or accept chaplains as volunteers to work with children by March 1, 2024.
School counselors play an important role in students’ lives — a role that religious chaplains don't have the training to provide. Replacing well-educated and licensed professionals with uncertified chaplains threatens the safety, education, and religious freedom of our students.
Learn how you can oppose chaplains in schools and fight for the students in your district with our Chaplain Law Toolkit [[link removed]] .

This toolkit was created to help parents, students, teachers, faith leaders, advocates, and concerned community members understand and oppose SB 763 in their communities. It includes information on the background and implications of a chaplain policy, the differences between chaplains and counselors, how to speak against a policy at board meetings, and much more.
Public schools should be places where students of all faiths, and no faith, are respected, nurtured, and prepared to thrive. We hope this toolkit inspires and prepares you to show up for the education and civil rights of students in your district.
In solidarity,
