Gifting for Families Holiday Drive a Success!

Thank you to all the donors and volunteers for supporting the toy drive. We greatly appreciate your generosity. We could not have possibly distributed over 2,500 toys and gift cards without you. Supporting families is especially important this year since so many people are facing economic hardships. Thank you for making it possible for every child to have a moment of holiday joy.

Shout out to the amazing team of volunteers who knocked it out of the park shlepping, counting, sorting and packing the bounty. We appreciate our corporate partners at AWS, BI, BKV, Brown & Settle, Lindsey, Macerich, Meta, and Merritt. Also, many thanks to the awesome teens from National Charity League (NCL) and Young Men’s Service League (YMSL) for their tremendous help loading the NVFS van with toys. And a big thank you to our generous Gifting for Families sponsors including The Cecil and Irene Hylton Foundation, I-66 Express Mobility Partners, Grosvenor - Property Americas, Kearney & Company, Swift, and Vulcan Materials.

Healthy Families Celebrate with Holiday Playgroups

Healthy Families Arlington and Healthy Families Prince William recently gathered their families in a playgroup to enjoy community and share the fun and festivities of the season. For one family this was their first holiday in the US! They greatly appreciated being part of the gathering, the group meal, and celebration.

A special thanks to Tacombi Community Kitchen for providing our families with a beautiful, delicious and nutritious meal. K9 Brooks and her handler, Kara from K-9 Caring Angels Service and Therapy Dogs gave kids and their families the special opportunity to find comfort in therapy dogs. Apple Federal Credit Union completely commited to the role of Santa’s elves even down to the curl toe booties to take pictures with Santa, giving families a keepsake to take home.

Many thanks to all the staff and volunteers for putting together such a memorable event!

Capital One Provides Packs for Food Insecure Families

Many children depend upon the free and reduced lunches provided at school. For families experiencing food insecurity, on days when school isn't in session little tummies can go hungry. So, a big thank you to Capital One for purchasing and assembling weekend food packs for children. Our caseworkers are extremely gratefull for the food packs, which they will take to families and children experiencing food insecurity to keep tummies full, weekends happy, and the return to school focused on learning not food.

Check out our Hunger Resource Center <[link removed]> if you need help or wish to give to ensure that our neighbors facing food insecurity get the support they need. If your community group or company want to get involved email Navara Cannon <mailto:[email protected]> so we can work together to help our neighbors thrive!
