John – This week I filed for re-election to continue serving the Second Congressional District of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives. I also condemned the despicable antisemitism displayed by the presidents of some of America’s top educational institutions and again called for action from the Biden Administration to secure the southern border. As I launch my re-election campaign for Congress, I need the support of committed patriots like you from across the country to ensure I have the resources necessary to win. If you’re able to contribute even a small donation to my campaign, I would greatly appreciate it as I continue to fight for you in Congress on the issues that matter most. You can donate at this link: SUPPORT MY 2024 RE-ELECTION CAMPAIGN As always, thank you for your continued support. Now, here’s your brief. HERE'S WHY I'M RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION I recently filed for re-election to represent the Second Congressional District of Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives. Many are choosing to retire from Congress this year, which is frankly understandable. This year has been a particularly tumultuous one in Congress. We’ve seen chaos and infighting. The perverse incentive structure in American politics makes it more profitable and rewarding for politicians to sow division and generate fame for themselves rather than working on behalf of their constituents. All of this distracts from the real work in front of Congress for the American people - securing the southern border, reining in inflation, addressing crime in our communities, and stopping the scourge of fentanyl. But, at least to me, that is all the more reason to remain in the fight. Our country desperately needs leadership at this moment - serious legislators who are committed to doing the hard work of policy making in Congress. That is what I’ve tried to provide - real leadership - to my constituents and my country since I was elected to the House five years ago. I’m working hard on the Energy and Commerce Committee to fight for American energy independence and our vital oil and gas industry. As Chairman of the Cartel Task Force, I’m fighting back against the Mexican drug cartels who are killing tens of thousands of Americans with fentanyl. And I’m working every day to find solutions to the rampant illegal immigration crisis caused by Joe Biden’s open border policies. I take this work and my mission to grow the conservative movement seriously and I want to continue that work in Congress. It is an honor to represent the good people of the Second District of Texas since 2019, and I hope I will continue to have your support as I seek re-election. DESPICABLE ANTISEMITISM FROM IVY LEAGUE PRESIDENTS Harvard President Claudine Gay spoke at an Education and Workforce Committee hearing this week on “Holding Campus Leaders Accountable, and Confronting Antisemitism.” President Gay was asked several times if calling for the genocide of Jews violates the Harvard code of conduct. Her response? “It depends on the context.” The next day Harvard posted a statement on her behalf, explaining that people were “confused” by her testimony and that she in fact condemns calls for genocide against Jews. So why was President Gay unable to say this at the hearing? Did it really take universal outrage to admit that genocide is wrong? This is a disgusting display of blatant antisemitism. And it wasn’t just the president of Harvard. The presidents of MIT and Penn were asked the same question during the hearing, and every single one of them refused to answer this basic question. Now they are all rightfully under fire for their despicable antisemitism. They should not be given the opportunity to resign - they should be removed from their positions in disgrace. Antisemitism is rampant on college campuses across America because the leaders of these universities refuse to stand up to the radicals pushing this vile garbage. We must hold them accountable. BIDEN CONTINUES TO FAIL AMERICANS AT OUR SOUTHERN BORDER Joe Biden had an opportunity to show that he - for once - took the ongoing crisis at the southern border seriously. There is a simple deal on the table in Congress right now - make basic policy changes at the southern border to rein in illegal immigration in exchange for additional American support for Ukraine in their war against Russia. Instead of taking this deal, which would achieve two goals at the same time, Joe Biden displayed his typical partisanship and ambivalence to the national security crisis he has created at our southern border. Joe Biden called basic border security measures “extreme partisan border policies.” So, what is Joe Biden calling extreme? Here are some of the things we are asking for: Stopping the abuse of our asylum laws to discourage migrants from making bogus asylum claims. More tools to stop the flow of illegal immigrants and deadly drugs like fentanyl into our country. Enforcing the immigration laws already on the books that he is CONSTITUTIONALLY REQUIRED TO EXECUTE. Does any of that sound “extreme” or “partisan” to you? No, of course not. This is the easiest deal imaginable for Joe Biden and Congressional Democrats to make, but they care too much about maintaining their open border policies to make it. They are confirming what we already knew: Democrat leaders in Washington are exclusively responsible for an open border that is threatening American sovereignty and security.
