Bring These Hostages Home Last year, I visited the Kfar Aza Kibbutz and saw a daycare center where happy children were sleeping and playing. On October 7th, I got a phone call that people across the entire kibbutz had been massacred — men, women, and those beautiful children. This week marked two months since Hamas terrorists' vile, horrific attack on Israel, in which more than 1,200 people were killed and over 240 were taken hostage. Many of them remain trapped in the darkness. To recognize this solemn occasion, I held a bipartisan press conference with families of individuals being held hostage to make one thing abundantly clear: The United States will not rest until these individuals are liberated from the darkness and safely returned to their families. McCaul with families of individuals held hostage by Hamas Putting a Stop to the Biden Admin's De Facto Ban on Gas-Powered Vehicles Since President Biden took office, his administration has consistently worked to force their radical climate agenda onto American families. Most recently, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed a de facto ban on the sale of new vehicles that use gasoline — essentially forcing thousands of Americans to buy electric vehicles (EVs). Not only would this take away consumer choice, but it would also create a burden for many living in rural areas, including Central Texas, which lack access to EV chargers. During a time when grocery, gas, and energy costs are sky high, the last thing Texans need is the Biden administration forcing them to buy electric vehicles, which cost $13,000 more than gas-powered cars on average. This week, I was proud to defend consumer choice and vote with House Republicans for the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales (CARS) Act of 2023, prohibiting the Biden administration from following through on this plan. The fact is, [the Biden administration doesn't] seem to want to admit they have a problem. ... [Republicans are] not going to give in until [the border crisis] is addressed."
