Twin Cities residents are in the middle of a public health crisis. In order to halt widespread displacement from our homes and our jobs due to the COVID-19 outbreak — we are calling on Mayor Carter, Mayor Frey, and City Council leadership to step up. With each passing day, more and more people are at risk of contracting the global pandemic, COVID-19. This crisis will affect homeless, poor, ill, and elderly people most of all — and those who face homelessness or day-to-day housing insecurity are at a higher risk of being exposed to the virus, becoming ill, and suffering catastrophic health outcomes. Workers will face a substantial loss of income as we self-isolate and stay home from work to protect our community's health. Additionally, evictions and homelessness will significantly worsen the transmission of COVID-19.

Thankfully, leaders in San Jose ([link removed]) , San Francisco ([link removed]) , and Miami-Dade County ([link removed]) have taken similar actions to guarantee housing as a human right, while mitigating the unfolding crisis. Please sign our petition to demand our elected officials also take immediate action! ([link removed])

Thank you for your support, and stay healthy and safe.

In solidarity,

TCDSA
