"I feel so grateful for the program. I no longer feel alone. I feel very secure and thank you for you help." Read More from Our Clients Holiday Season Updates The holiday season is here! Here at Doorways, in addition to providing shelter, housing, and community-based services to more than 180 adults, youth, and children, we are busy preparing for our administrative office move this month. We look forward to sharing more about our new offices in Ballston Quarter soon. In the meantime, please read the following important updates. Thanks to You, Winter Wishes Come True Great news – ALL of the more than 180 adults, youth, and children at Doorways have a Winter Wishes sponsor! Each client will receive a present and a $100 gift card. Thank you for bringing the magic of the season to your neighbors at Doorways. We are so grateful for your support! We're Moving! This month, we are relocating Doorways' administrative offices (due to current space being slated for demolition). What does that mean for mail and donations? Please read on! ➤ Mailing Address (Not Changing) Please continue to use the same mailing address: Doorways, P.O. Box 100185, Arlington, VA 22210. ➤ Donating Items We are working diligently to clear out our storage space and help both of our shelters have the items they need on-hand through our Amazon Wishlist. (If our wish list appears "light" right now, this is why!) Currently, we are only accepting donated items through this list. If you are interested in donating items, or hosting a drive for donated items, please first contact Ashley Stewart to discuss options at 703-504-9271 or [email protected]. ➤ Alternative Ways to Give Donate: Donations make Doorways' mission possible. Give the gifts of safe harbor, healing, and hope online at www.doorwaysva.org/donate, or mail your gift to Doorways, P.O. Box 100185, Arlington, VA 22210. When you give the gift of hope against harm this season, our generous donors Judy and Kevin Moak will match your donation, dollar for dollar (up to $35,000), to double your impact! Donate Now to Earn the Match Gift Cards: We continue to need and accept VISA and Target gift cards for our clients. These gift cards empower our clients to choose and purchase their own groceries, clothing, home goods, and more. Gift cards can be mailed to our P.O. Box or delivered in person; please contact Ashley Stewart at 703-504-9271 or [email protected] to schedule a time. Donate Items to Our Community Partners: For alternative places to donate your items, please check out our community partners listed on our website! To our partners: If you would like to be added to this list, or to edit your listing, please contact Linley Beckbridge at [email protected]. Guides for Safety Planning and Self-Care this Season The holiday season can be a joyful and happy time but can also come with a ton of stress and anxiety (even if you welcome and enjoy the holiday season). This time of year can also be stressful for the children in our lives with a change in their routine, being overscheduled, and potentially spending time with people they don't typically see. The Respect Together Libraries have many useful resources held within the collections to help get us through this time of the year and guide us into the brand-new year to come. From children through adulthood, these books can help. Project PEACE has launched an initiative called Arlington Transforming Masculinity (ATM) to imagine ways in which we can increase the wellbeing of men and boys. The first step is getting a better sense of what men and boys are experiencing. We are asking people in the Arlington Community to fill out this quick survey to help shape the direction of this work. Several participants will win a $15-$30 gift card in appreciation for their time. We welcome all ages!
