It's been another busy week in TX-23 and D.C. I am proud to serve our district in Congress. Each day, I work to address your concerns and protect our liberties. From helping you navigate federal casework to addressing your concerns, my team and I are always here to help. Please read below for some updates on my recent work representing you in Washington, D.C. and back home in TX-23. Protecting our Public Lands Recently, the Biden administration converted a national park site in New York City into a migrant tent camp. A move like this sets a bad precedent for the misuse of other public lands across America. Last week, I helped support House passage of legislation that would ban any federal funding from being used for this purpose. Fixing our Broken Foster Care System Every year, thousands of children disappear from our nation’s foster care system because of unsuccessful placements. This population is at risk for sex trafficking and homelessness, and it as all due to a lapse in communication between state and federal authorities. My bill - the Find and Protect Foster Youth Act - addresses this issue and passed unanimously out of committee last week. This is a big step forward that can change lives, and I will continue working hard to ensure this bill gets across the finish line. Combatting Foreign Aggression in the Arctic Russia and China have taken serious steps to increase their presence in several arctic states where we hold key military assets. Last week, I participated in a Homeland Security Committee hearing to highlight my concerns and get answers on how Congress can secure our national interests in the arctic region.
