FL-27 Newsletter Vol. 118, Issue #42 Dear Friends/Amigos, Last week was a very productive week for District 27 in Congress! My colleagues and I in the House of Representatives passed my bill, the RECLAIM Taxpayer Funds Act, in an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote. More on that vote below. I also introduced a resolution with my friend and colleague, Congressman Chip Roy, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Monroe Doctrine, one of the foundational foreign policy doctrines in American history. Scroll down to read more about what this means for America today. As always, feel free to share your opinion with us about your priorities for Congress by calling or writing to my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 225-3931 or visiting Salazar.House.Gov. If you or any of your loved ones live in District 27 and are traveling this holiday season, make sure your passports are up to date! If your passport is about to expire, my office remains a resource to you. Feel free to call my Miami office at (305) 668-2285 with any questions. Sincerely/Atentamente, María Elvira Salazar U.S. Representative (FL-27) THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES PASSED MY RECLAIM TAXPAYER FUNDS ACT! I am proud to announce that Thursday, the House of Representatives passed my bill, the RECLAIM Taxpayer Funds Act (H.R. 4667), in an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote. H.R. 4667 forces the Small Business Administration to return the billions in stolen pandemic loans back to the American people, restoring our trust in institutions and promoting good government. Hard-working Americans pay taxes to fund programs that are meant to serve, not steal. My bill passing in the People's House sent a very loud message to the Biden Administration: We the People will not be defrauded. To read the full press release, click here. President James Monroe, one of America's Founding Fathers, gave a speech on December 2, 1823 outlining his case for what came to be known as the 'Monroe Doctrine.' The idea is simple: America cannot be safe if foreign powers are allowed to undermine us in our own hemisphere. History proved him right. For 200 years, America has been kept safe because colonial powers could not intervene in the Western Hemisphere. Today, we face new enemies. Threats to our liberty and security no longer come from England, France, or Spain, but from Russia, China, and Iran. Communist and authoritarian influence is growing in Latin America by the day, and the Biden Administration is letting it happen. We can't let this happen. By passing my resolution, Congress would be taking a solid first step in sending the message to the world that the Americas are for the Americans. Read the full text of my resolution here. I CONGRATULATED JAVIER MILEI ON ENDING DECADES OF SOCIALISM IN ARGENTINA! The end of socialism anywhere is a victory for liberty everywhere. Libertarian economist Javier Milei won the Argentine presidential election in a landslide victory convincing the people of his country that liberty is always preferable to submission to the government. I was proud to send a letter with several of my colleagues to President-Elect Milei congratulating him and offering our total commitment to working with Argentina to keep our hemisphere clear of anti-American influence coming from China, Russia, and Iran. Once again, congratulations, President-Elect Milei! I look forward to working with you from the House Foreign Relations Committee! To read the letter I sent to Milei, click here.
