John, I just voted to expel George Santos from the House of Representatives. And in a decisive 311-114 vote, he was finally removed from office. Expulsion is a rare event in the House, and for good reason. Someone elected by their constituents should not be easily or lightly removed, even by the necessary two-thirds vote in the House. But in the case of George Santos, expulsion was exactly the right remedy. After stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from his campaign and donors, a 23-count indictment, a House Ethics Committee investigation, and two former campaign aides pleading guilty to fraud, he needed to go. And the dirty tactics that George Santos used to get elected could soon be on display in our Senate race — where Santos’ former campaign treasurer has created a dark money Super PAC called, get this: STOP ADAM PAC.

George Santos’ dirty tactics and lies were an extreme case, but all too emblematic of a morally bankrupt MAGA movement. They bully, intimidate, and punish politically anyone who dares go against them. They’ve targeted me repeatedly — including for expulsion and censure — and will do so again. While Santos was expelled, that doesn’t lessen our need to defeat the MAGA grip on today’s Republican party and finally get work done for the American people. Our bipartisan expulsion of George Santos was a step forward for our democracy. But there are other MAGA Republicans who are more skilled and no less brazen in their lies. Thank you, Adam
