John – Especially now, you are surely hearing the repeated refrain from politicians that they are “fighting" for you. But what does that phrase - “fighting for you” - actually mean? Too many believe that “fighting” means screaming the loudest on cable news. Too many believe that it means being overly provocative on social media. And too many, sadly, believe they are the real fighters for the conservative movement when their tactics set our movement up for failure. That is not what fighting means. Real fighting means fighting to win. It means working hard to understand the biggest challenges facing America and then crafting solutions to those challenges. It means articulating a governing philosophy and policy framework in a way that will persuade. It means engaging in the tedious, meticulous nature of lawmaking that will deliver lasting results for our country. And it means building and sustaining conservative, governing majorities at every level of American politics so our policy solutions get passed into and remain law. That’s what real fighting means.
