John,

November is Native American Heritage Month, a time when we honor the rich culture, histories and contributions of Indigenous communities.

I am proud to work together with the Tribal nations in Washington’s 10th Congressional District to continue collaboration towards building a sustainable and equitable future for all Washingtonians.

In the last year, we made historic progress on this front. We launched the first Puget Sound Federal Leadership Task Force, with fellow Washington Democrats Senators Murray and Cantwell and Congressman Kilmer, to lead the coordinated federal effort to restore Puget Sound while upholding Tribal treaty rights.

We re-introduced the Puyallup Tribe of Indians Land Into Trust Act to help restore the Puyallup Tribe's homelands and spur economic development.

We secured funding for the Squaxin Island Tribe to access more clean drinking water, and millions of dollars to help the Nisqually Tribe add housing for their elders.

I am calling on my colleagues in Congress to recommit to our shared goals of collaboration so that we can continue to improve access to water sources, secure funding for housing projects that address the pressing needs of Indigenous families, and expand economic opportunities for all Tribal communities.

I’m looking for 500 supporters from your city to sign on to our petition urging Congress to prioritize the critical issues facing Indigenous populations in our state. Will you add your name?ADD MY NAME [[link removed]]

Thank you for your commitment to honoring Native American Heritage Month and for standing with me in advocating for Washington's Tribal nations.

Gratefully,

Marilyn
