Howdy comrades,?

?

Communications Committee checking in and bringing you edition #194 of the Houston DSA newsletter! Hope to see you at one of our upcoming events! Solidarity!

Palestinian Liberation Working Group

Friday, November 17 was a global day of action, Shut It Down For Palestine. Houston DSA helped organize a rally for a ceasefire outside of Rep. Lizzie Fletcher's office along with Palestinian, Jewish, and collaborative organizations. The rally was well attended by community and chapter members. We encourage everyone to contact your respective representatives demanding a ceasefire. You may use the link below to write to your representatives in Congress. Ceasefire now!

?

On Friday, November 24, a day of action during "Black Friday", Houston DSA along with Palestinian and collaborative organizations planned a disruption action inside the Galleria shopping mall. Members and other comrades waited in clutters throughout the mall. Once the flags came out and the chants began, everyone came together, becoming a mass occupying a center walkway. Meanwhile, on the second floor, the crowd hanged various Palestinian solidarity banners. Many onlookers cheered on the chants for a Free Palestine, and an end to Israel's genocide. A large police presence gathered after a while and the crowd eventually left the mall. The crowd continued rallying outside Galleria before dispersing.?

?

Our chapter with Palestinian and collaborative organizations, participated in a protest for Palestine against Vice President Kamala Harris who was in Houston to fundraise on Monday, November 27.?

?

Let's continue showing up for a free Palestine, a ceasefire, and end to Israel's genocide. Please follow socials and/or our Mattermost (see Reminders) for updates.

Abolition Working Group

The reading for this next meeting on Thursday helps put into perspective what is at stake for the left and the response by the state to the Summer of 2020. While there are few on the left who applaud the use of RICO charges against Donald Trump, the fact remains that this tool of the state has been and will be used against the left again and again. The system works as intended against the left.
