Your support today makes the difference for pets like Foxy and Rajah. But tragically, they're not the only ones in need.

The number of homeless pets entering shelters has surged since the pandemic, and euthanasia at the city pound is on the rise after years of hard-won progress.

For months, we’ve worked tirelessly to help. PAWS Chicago is the city pound's number one transfer partner, and since June, we've rescued 62% more pets than we did last year, including Foxy, who was scheduled for euthanasia when the pound called us, and Rajah, a kitten who just needed a chance.

Your Giving Tuesday donation will support these lifesaving efforts and make an IMMEDIATE impact on the lives of at-risk pets.

Yes, Foxy was scheduled for euthanasia at the city pound. The odds were against her. She was 10 years old and struggling with a respiratory infection, and illness can lead to euthanasia when the pound is overcrowded.

The city pound is the barometer of animal welfare’s progress in Chicago, and sadly, they have seen 1,000 additional homeless pets so far this year. Our responsibility is to help as much as we can.

Fortunately, thanks to our partnership with the city pound, we received the urgent call to help Foxy. Once safe at our Medical Center, Foxy got everything she needed—medicine, love, and a second chance. Days later, she is so much improved she can now complete her recovery in a cozy foster home.

Foxy could have died. Not from age or illness or injury. From overcrowding. Year after year, the PAWS Chicago community steps up to help at risk animals. I'm asking you today to join the groundswell of support and continue the lifesaving.
