The mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas was horrific.

We lost 19 children and two teachers when a deranged gunman entered Robb Elementary with an AR-15.

The photos I've seen and the stories I’ve heard are unimaginable.

We need an assault weapons ban in America. Now.

As Uvalde’s State Senator, as a father, as a proud Texan, and as an American fed up with the status quo: I’m asking you to stand with me in this fight. Please, John, will you sign your name to my petition demanding that Congress ban assault weapons once and for all?

It’s up to us to save lives and make our schools safe, John.

But right now, what we are doing is just not working.

And as long as pro-gun extremists like Ted Cruz hold the reins, I know nothing will change.
