What a wonderful time of the year to gather together and reflect on the many blessings we have been given.
President Abraham Lincoln, during one of the most difficult times in our nation, reminded us that we still have much to be thankful for. In his Thanksgiving Proclamation, Lincoln listed many of the blessings amidst the challenges our nation was facing. He said of the blessings:
“They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy.
It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.“
Scripture also reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
And while it’s certainly a challenging time for our country, we are so blessed for the freedom and opportunity we enjoy as Americans.
Thank you also, to so many of you who have supported us over the years: it is an honor to serve you. And to those who may be away from family this season – especially the families of those serving in the military to defend our freedoms – may God bless you and keep you safe. We are truly grateful for everything you do.
May each of you have a blessed day. Happy Thanksgiving!
