Here's a breakdown of the good, the bad, and the ugly of the emergency Special Session Jared Polis called to salvage his big-government agenda in the aftermath of the defeat of the Democrats' deceptive ballot measure, Prop HH.

The Good:
Our Republican lawmakers, including Senator Kevin Van Winkle, Representatives Stephanie Luck, Ken DeGraaf, Scott Bottoms, and Brandi Bradley, fought passionately to deliver clean and straightforward property tax relief for all Coloradans. Their efforts have been commendable in exposing the deceptive tactics employed by radical Democrats and their attempts to raid taxpayer funds through bait-and-switch schemes.

We applaud all Republican lawmakers for voting against the Democrats’ property tax package that fails to stem the current crisis but instead advances their efforts to violate the Taxpayer's Bill of Rights.

The Bad:
Despite the efforts of Colorado Republicans, Democrat lawmakers chose not to address the property tax crisis collaboratively or engage in meaningful discussions for genuine tax cuts.

The bills they passed fall short of providing the necessary relief working families need to help manage their bills and keep their homes in the face of skyrocketing property taxes.

Unfortunately, Republican caucus leadership didn’t help their cause by advocating for increased spending on local governments through General Fund Reserve backfills.
It's important to remind ourselves that government is too big and spends too much. If anyone needs to be "backfilled" it’s the taxpayers. Government can tighten its belt like everyone else.

At the end of the day, a minimum 30% property tax increase looms on the horizon. This is a direct consequence of the failure of out-of-touch Democrats to adopt effective mainstream solutions voters demand.

Now, more than ever, we must stand united in advocating for responsible fiscal policies that prioritize the well-being of our citizens over unnecessary government spending.

The Ugly:
In an alarming turn of events, Democrat lawmakers demonstrated a concerning lack of commitment to Israel's right to exist and defend itself.

During the Special Session, radical activists supporting Hamas disrupted proceedings on numerous occasions. Democrat State Rep. Elisabeth Epps even joined these protestors.

Epps shouted derogatory remarks at fellow lawmakers, accused
Republicans of fascism for supporting Israel, and made baseless claims of genocide by the United States and Israel. Such behavior is not only unacceptable but undermines the integrity of our legislative process.

To make matters worse, Democrat lawmakers invited these disrupters back into the building and refused to have State Patrol do their job to remove them from the Capitol.

We must remain steadfast in upholding the principles of our Republic and ensure that disruptive actions are met with appropriate consequences. Unfortunately, Colorado Democrats care more about lawbreakers than citizens who play by the rules.

While we celebrate the efforts of our Republican lawmakers in advocating for the people of Colorado, we must also address the challenges posed by the Democrats' refusal to collaborate and the disruptive behavior witnessed during the Special Session.

Again, the Colorado Republican Party calls on all citizens to stay vigilant and engaged as we enter into the 2024 elections. Together, we can ensure that our state continues to thrive, free from the excessive taxation and government overreach by the Democrat Party

For the Taxpayers,
