Dear John,

Giving Tuesday, one of the most important days of the year for PAWS Chicago's homeless pets, is just a week away—November 28.

It couldn't come at a more pivotal time. Because today, the threat to homeless animals in Chicago is growing.

Right now, here in Chicago and across the nation, we are seeing a surge in pet homelessness, and a surge in euthanasia. Tragically, euthanasia at Chicago Animal Care & Control (the city pound) is up more than 24% compared to last year. It's endangering pets like Mono, a parvo puppy who was facing euthanasia at the city pound when they called for our help. His remarkable story is featured below.

You can help us curb the crisis today.

The post-pandemic recovery has been absolutely terrible for homeless cats and dogs who are alone on the streets and in shelters. But right now—today through Giving Tuesday—the PAWS Chicago community has unique opportunity to impact the surge in a powerful way. The Robert and Mayari Pritzker Family Foundation has generously provided a $25,000 GIVING TUESDAY MATCH. The impact of your gift today is doubled.

Your support means that together, we are their voice—and their best hope. With your help, we'll reduce euthanasia and reverse this dangerous trend.

Save 2X the Lives
Thanks to you, the lifesaving is continuous and increasing. PAWS Chicago is the city pound's number one transfer partner, and since June, we've taken 62% more pets than we did last year.

Pet of the Month: Muffin

Muffin is four-and-a-half years old and, shall we say, a tad overweight at 23 pounds. We rescued Muffin from the city pound in May, and since clearing for adoption, she’s patiently awaited an adopter who will love her, muffin top and all. Is it you?

Muffin’s excess weight has led to early arthritis in her legs, but she’s making great progress on her weight loss journey while staying with her foster mom, Katie.
