Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I’m pleased to update you on my work in Washington, D.C. and the First District of Kansas. It is an honor to represent Kansans in the Big First District in the 118th Congress. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger, and I believe our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service,   Mann.House.Gov   The Week Ahead From my family to yours - happy Thanksgiving! We hope your holiday is filled with fellowship with family and friends. As we reflect on what we’re thankful for this week, I’m thanking God for the United States of America. We live in the greatest country on earth. We are a nation of peace and prosperity, shining as a beacon of freedom for the world, and I still believe that our brightest days are yet to come. God bless you, God bless America, and happy Thanksgiving! Small Business Saturday Rep. Mann visiting 21st Century Bean, owned by Kansas farmers in Sharon Springs, KS. Rep. Mann with Josh Wolters, CEO of SurePoint Ag Systems in Atwood, KS. Rep. Mann with Lyn and Laramie Yoder, owners of Walnut Street Coffee & Deli in Oskaloosa, KS. Saturday, November 25, is Small Business Saturday. Small businesses are the heart of our economy, and they add brick and mortar to the American dream. When we shop small, we not only get quality products and services, but we also directly contribute to the growth of our local economy and support our neighbors. I am honored to represent the small businesses in the Big First District on the House Small Business Committee and in Congress.     In the Office Putting a Stop to Reckless Spending Business as usual in Washington is bankrupting America. We don’t need any more continuing resolutions that extend Washington Democrat spending levels and burn through taxpayer dollars. Last week's continuing resolution contained no spending reductions and no border security. The real solution to reducing Washington Democrat bloated spending is to return to regular order and pass 12 individual appropriations bills. We must keep working towards that commitment. Calling for the Impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas Under the watch of President Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, 3.8 million people have illegally entered our country. That’s more than the entire population of Kansas. The border crisis is out of control. Last week, I voted to move forward with the impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas. We must hold him accountable for violating his oath of office and putting Americans at risk. Click here to read more about my vote to impeach Secretary Mayorkas. Leveling the Playing Field for American Workers No American worker should be discriminated against by a potential employer for not having a four-year degree. I cosponsor the Opportunity to Compete Act, which would ensure that employers give credit to applicants based on their relevant skills and experience to do the job. Americans gain real-world experience through technical education, apprenticeships, internships, collegiate education, military service, and other forms of experience, all of which deserve to be considered by a potential employer. Last week, I met with several involved in the Kansas Farm Credit system while they were in D.C. We discussed the importance of crop insurance, rural facilities, and passing a strong, five-year Farm Bill to provide the most certainty to agricultural producers and agricultural business owners. I’m grateful for Farm Credit and the work it does to protect the livelihoods of those who feed, fuel, and clothe the world. Receiving National Guard Seal I am honored to receive the official National Guard seal, which I will display in my D.C. office. I’m grateful for all of the Kansas Army and Air Force National Guardsmen for their service to our state and country. Citizen soldiers began protecting their communities and families when Kansas was still a territory. The Kansas Militia was formed on August 30, 1855, and was later organized into units of the Kansas National Guard when Kansas became a state in 1861. This tradition of service is still alive and well, and I am proud to honor it with this seal in my office. National Cotton Council The National Cotton Council’s mission is to ensure the competitiveness and profitability of raw cotton, oilseeds, and U.S.-manufactured cotton products at home and abroad. In 2022, Kansas planted more than 165,000 acres of upland cotton, and I am proud to have met with many cotton producers last week. We discussed the need for a strong, five-year Farm Bill and the importance of listening to producers and consumers alike when USDA implements programs. Thank you, National Cotton Council for meeting with me.
