*$64 million* available to fund Level 2 or DC Fast Charging stations in communities statewide

Building charging infrastructure to support the growing adoption of electric vehicles (EV) is a priority for the State of Washington. The Washington State EV Charging program is offering the first round of funding - $64 million in incentives to install Level 2 and DC fast chargers throughout the state, with a goal of directing 40% of funding into overburdened and vulnerable communities.

*Project types and funding*


* Projects installing *Level 2 *stations for the following sites are eligible for *$7,500 per plug*:
* Multi-family residential charging
* Publicly-available charging in underserved communities
* Fleet depot and workplace charging

* Projects installing *DC Fast Charging (DCFC)* stations for publicly-available charging in underserved communities are eligible for *$85,000 per* *plug*.

*Eligible lead applicants*

Lead applicants are encouraged to partner with each other and the private sector, including charging companies or site hosts.


* Electric utilities
* Public agencies
* Federally recognized Tribal governments, their members, and enterprises owned by Tribes and located off Tribal lands
* Non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations

*Funding cycles*

This is the first of two funding cycles that will be offered in 2023-2025. An additional $64 million is expected in 2024-2025.

*Project period*

Grant recipients should expect to complete Level 2 projects within 270 days, and DCFC projects within 580 days.

Projects that include priority elements may qualify for additional points. More information is in program guidelines.

How to apply

* *Create an account in the Zoomgrants portal [ [link removed] ]. *Applications are accepted only through the online ZoomGrants portal.
The *lead applicant* will complete the application.
* *Download the Site Application*: Next, the lead applicant will download the Application (Excel) from ZoomGrants. The application is designed to enter charging sites for the Washington Electric Vehicle Charging Program.

IMPORTANT: Applications are not reviewed on a rolling basis - this is not an "apply early" situation. With the Dec. 1 deadline approaching, if potential applicants and partners have not done so, we recommend you complete the following immediately: 


* *Determine *how on-site charging may benefit your organization and community. 
* *Consult* with your electric utility regarding your site’s readiness and capacity for the proposed project. If you do not own the property, consider drafting a site-host agreement. 
* *Familiarize* your organization with the state procurement process and permitting process.
* *Seek technical assistance: *Provides extra time to take advantage of *free technical assistance* provided by the Center for Sustainable Energy [ [link removed] ]
