John,
After we won the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act last summer, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms (ATF) is finally now able to propose a new lifesaving gun safety rule that closes the “gun show loophole.” But we need your help to speak out in favor of this rule before the public comment period ends.
Right now, people who sell firearms online or at gun shows are NOT required to run a background check on firearm sales. That makes it easier, and more dangerous, to sell guns. Naturally, the gun lobby is lining up to oppose this new rule.
We’re now in the critical public comment period, and the gun lobby is making their voices heard. We need to show our policymakers that the American public is on the side of gun safety.
Take a moment to submit a public comment supporting the ATF's new rule to CLOSE the gun show loophole and bring us one step closer to universal background checks.
Our nation's system of background checks has glaring gaps that put all of us in danger. But we can take one big step closer to save lives with this new rule.
Thanks for raising your voices.
In solidarity,
March For Our Lives
