Last week, Congress managed to pass a temporary funding bill after nearly running out of time yet again to keep the government open.

Our representatives work for us — our tax dollars pay their salaries, our voters elect them to office; Americans families deserve more than this. Tell Congress they need to reprioritize and end the partisan games. [[link removed]]

These repeated close calls on shutdown prove we’re in dire need of leaders who are in service to our people and country, not their own agendas. It should never come to this.

The impact of a shutdown would have been felt by millions of veterans, seniors, and working families, as well as active members of our military and AmeriCorps members. The longer these temporary measures and unclear paths forward go on, the more the insecurity and danger to our most vulnerable citizens grows. No leader should tolerate the abdication of the basic duty to keep our government functioning.

It’s long been clear we need a new politics, and this latest stunt is even further proof.

Let us know what you think by adding your name and telling Congress to stop the games and get to work. [[link removed]]

Thank you for being with us,

Gabe

New Politics supports outstanding military veterans and national service leaders, alumni of programs like AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps, to step up and serve our country again, this time through politics. We were proud to be behind the movement of veterans who ran for office for the first time in 2018, and we have big plans to grow into the future.
