In case you haven’t heard, far-right candidates were shut down in this year’s municipal elections right here in New Mexico! From city council candidates to extremist Moms for Liberty school board hopefuls, New Mexicans everywhere denounced right-wing extremism and largely chose to elect candidates that represent values Democrats hold dear.

Although municipal elections throughout the state were non-partisan, we still need to fight to protect our principles. It’s more important than ever for Democrats to support candidates that align with Democratic values, especially in local races where the impact significantly affects our communities right here at home. Although far-right values were defeated in municipal races, Democrats still have a long way to go to ensure our values continue to be safeguarded in every election to come. We still need to roll up our sleeves and fight as hard as we can to protect the rights Republicans so desperately want to take away– from the right to decent public education, to the right to bodily autonomy. Can we count on you to bolster our efforts to continue ensuring that our rights and freedoms are protected in New Mexico?
