I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard it: my opponent Congresswoman Marie Perez – the most vulnerable Democrat in the country – is so desperate to hang onto her seat that she’s using taxpayer dollars to fund her campaign ads that are running right now in my district.

It’s one of Congress’s most corrupt practices – letting incumbents use their office budgets to pay for campaign mailers, phone calls, and even TV and radio ads. It’s so corrupt that the US Senate banned it – but it’s still “legal” for members of the US House.

And it’s corruption my opponent is shamelessly engaging in.

Even worse, her ads are bragging about her support for veterans, even though she voted with every other Democrat to defund veterans healthcare.

I wasn’t going to just sit back and let this misinformation spread – so I responded with a radio ad of my own running back-to-back with hers. You can hear it here: [link removed].

The irony is that Marie Perez also voted to keep our troops in warzones like Syria where we have no direct national interests – while at the same time voting to eliminate funding for their healthcare when they return injured.

I have a real plan to help our veterans – I know because I have first-hand experience with the VA as a veteran myself.
