The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) will hold a public hearing on the proposed amendments to the Notice Requirements and Uncooperative Insured Nonrenewal rules. The hearing will be at 2:30 p.m. Central time, December 14, 2023, in Room 2.029 of the Barbara Jordan Building, 1601 Congress Avenue in Austin, Texas.
The proposed new and amended rules implement:
- SB 1602, 87th Legislature, 2021, which requires insurers to nonrenew private passenger automobile policies if an insured fails or refuses to cooperate;
- HB 1900, 88th Legislature, 2023, which updates notice requirements for nonrenewal and cancellation of private passenger automobile policies; and
- HB 2065, 88th Legislature, 2023, which specifies that mandatory nonrenewal applies to third-party liability claims.
