The White House has proposed changes to National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) that could have disastrous consequences for the environment, the economy, and businesses across sectors. This bedrock environmental law, passed by Congress in 1970 with near-unanimous bipartisan support, requires that any infrastructure or building project in which the federal government is involved in must consider that project's potential impacts on the environment before beginning construction. A weakened NEPA will greatly increase the risk of oil spills and other environmental disasters and hasten the onset of climate change. Visit our website and sign onto our letter or leave your own comment before COB Tuesday 3/10 to let the administration know that the business community rejects the current proposal and instead supports strong and efficient environmental protections under NEPA. | |
