Team,

COVID-19 is a public health emergency and poses a serious threat to the American economy. It demands a serious, immediate, science-based response.

The US economy was already in a precarious spot -- with people in debt due to stagnant wages and rising costs. Now the markets are crumbling, a highly transmittable disease is spreading, and tests aren't being made available.

Donald Trump has downplayed the severity of this crisis at every turn, prioritizing his political standing over the health and safety of the American people. And my opponent Roger Williams has echoed Trump's lies -- he recently sent an email to constituents that falsely stated that “the risk still remains low for spread in our communities.”

Texas is the most uninsured state in the country, and this district deserves a real plan of action. That’s why I’m calling on Congress to act on the following:

-An emergency paid family leave program

-A temporary expansion of Medicare

-Giving the FDA anti-monopoly authority to begin addressing critical supply chain chokepoints revealed by the coronavirus

-A substantial fiscal stimulus package to head off a global recession

-Ensuring that any eventual vaccine that is developed must be made available to the public at no cost

Please read our full plan here, and reach out to our team if we can assist in any way: [link removed]

Thank you,

Julie
