The past few weeks have proved once again that the headwaters of the Boundary Waters is still at risk of dangerous and risky mining.

In October, Twin Metals (a subsidiary of Chilean-owned mining company Antofagasta) received the green light to pursue exploratory drilling under Birch Lake, just upstream of the Boundary Waters. Not to mention, in D.C. Representative Stauber is actively pushing to reinstate mineral leases that were canceled in 2022 and to reverse the Public Land Order made earlier this year, banning mining for 20 years on federal land in the headwaters of the Boundary Waters.

But we are fighting tooth and nail to keep toxic mining interests away from the Wilderness permanently. Thanks to Boundary Waters champions like you, our Campaign continues to combat threats to the watershed of the Boundary Waters with science, litigation, and advocacy.
