Newsletter #193

Howdy comrades,

Communications Committee checking in and bringing you edition #193 of the Houston DSA newsletter! Hope to see you at one of our upcoming events! Solidarity!

Palestinian Liberation Working Group

Join us, tomorrow November 16 at 7 PM at Bohemeos for our working group meeting. Zoom option also available. Please RSVP below.

Over 11,000 Palestinians, including 4,600 children, have been killed by Israel in less than 40 days. We have seen mass mobilization in Houston, around the country, and all over the world, led by the Palestinian youth. Please continue showing up for Palestine by attending local, state, or even national events and actions organized by orgs like PYM, SJP, and JVP. Socialists and those with a moral compass, should stand firm against the settler-colonial, genocidal, and racist Zionist project of Israel.

You may use the link below to write to your respective representatives in Congress to support a ceasefire. Israel's genocide must end. Ceasefire, now.

Labor Working Group

The Labor Working Group has a wonderful opportunity to act in solidarity this week by supporting the SBWU in its Red Cup Rebellion, TOMORROW, THIS Thursday, November 16th from 7 - 10AM. We will be showing up to the Starbucks store at 6400 Fanin for a short picket (7 - 830AM) before heading out in teams to non-unionized stores to give out flyers and talk to customers until 10AM.

Our Labor WG’s monthly meeting is TODAY, Wednesday the 15th starting at 7PM. The meeting is hybrid, at Bohemeos and on Zoom. Please RSVP below for Zoom link. We will be going over the Red Cup Rebellion and other plans and opportunities to strengthen and support labor in its phoenix rise from the ashes. We would love to see you!

We will be wrapping up the first module which takes a look at foundational principles, helping define what is capitalism, and getting ready for the next module, "What is Socialism?"

The Night School is open to the public and if you would like to be part of it, reach out to [email protected]. Night School events will be posted on the Houston DSA Calendar. Don't forget to RSVP!
