Dear friend,
Debt isn’t just a problem around the world, in the UK the number of people facing unmanageable debts has soared in recent years, almost 13 million of us are struggling.

That’s why we also campaign to bring down debts that are causing poverty and inequality here in the UK.
Right now, energy debts are out of control. A mountain of unpayable debt has built up during the cost of living crisis, 6.4 million of us are behind on our bills. And with winter coming, costs are only going to go up again.

The scandal of people being forced on to pre-payment meters has highlighted the scale of the crisis.

But the debt isn’t going to go away, that’s why we need the government to take urgent action and bring down energy debt.

And in a few weeks’ time we’ve got an opportunity to make them act. On the 22 November, the Chancellor Jeremy Hunt will be introducing his Autumn Statement, saying what what spending plans the government has for the year ahead.

We’ve got to make sure that taking action to bring down debt is one of his priorities. So far over 16,000 people have added their name to the campaign, will you add yours?

The amount of debt owed by people across the UK has soared to £2.5 billion during the crisis. It isn’t going anywhere, unless we force the government to act.

Thank you for taking action!

Best wishes,
Eva, Zak, Joe and the whole team at Debt Justice
