John,
Good afternoon, and welcome to our
Weekend Update.
On Veterans Day weekend, we thank the
brave men and women who have served in our nation’s military. Our
forefathers, forebearers, and family members have put service above
self to defend our freedoms.
They have fought to preserve our
republic, to promote righteousness, and to protect our homeland. Let’s
honor all of America’s veterans. I spoke on the floor of the U.S.
House to thank and honor America’s brave veterans. Click
here or below to watch my remarks.
I was happy to attend the Schuylkill
Chamber of Commerce’s Veterans Breakfast in Orwigsburg on Friday. More
than 100 veterans were in attendance, and I appreciated the
opportunity to thank them for their dedicated service and sacrifice. I
also shared with those in attendance how my office can assist
veterans, particularly in obtaining V.A. benefits. A big thank you to
Chamber President and CEO Bob Carl and his staff for arranging the
great breakfast and to the Captain Jason Jones Memorial Foundation for
being the event's title sponsor. The Republican Herald
covered the event, and you can read their recap by clicking
here.
It was a pleasure to join State
Senator Lynda Culver, State Representative Robert
Leadbetter, and other community officials on Saturday to
participate in the Bloomsburg Veterans Day Parade on Saturday. I was
honored to present the Parade Grand Marshal, Air Force veteran T/SGT.
Roland C. Flick, with a flag flown over the United States Capitol
Building. Seeing so many residents come out and show their support and
appreciation for our nation’s veterans was great. Let us never forget
the service and sacrifice of all
brave men and women who have served in our nation’s military to defend
our freedoms and protect our homeland.
The Biden corruption story never ends. To
no one’s surprise, reports indicate Special Counsel David Weiss was
evasive in his testimony before the Judiciary Committee today. Weiss
has deliberately ignored information from the IRS investigation,
offered Hunter a sweetheart plea deal, and has not uncovered a single
bank account or transaction related to the Biden Family’s shady
business dealings. Chairman Jamie Comer and the House Oversight
Committee have uncovered every piece of evidence in the growing
scandal. David Weiss has no credibility.
I joined Newsmax’s “Newsline” to
discuss the ongoing Biden scandal. Click

In Washington this week, we got to work
with our great team. (Pictured below with Congressman Jim Jordan
and Speaker Mike Johnson)
I had the pleasure of meeting with former
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and retired General Jack Keane to
discuss the Israel-Hamas war and other dangerous situations around the
globe.
I offered an amendment to improve the
soundness and integrity of the Small Business Administration’s (SBA’s)
flagship 7(a) Loan Program, which provides entrepreneurs access to
affordable and reliable capital. The SBA’s decision to eliminate
prudent underwriting standards for loans made through the 7(a)-loan
program has significantly heightened the risk of fraud and losses. If
a substantial number of these loans default, Congress may have to
intervene and provide a bailout for the 7(a) program to maintain its
functionality.
I proposed a commonsense amendment to
H.R. 4664 to address this pressing concern. This amendment will
reintroduce essential guardrails on these loans, safeguarding the
longevity of the 7(a)-loan program. H.R. 4664 is a victory for
taxpayers, consumers, and the American financial system, and my
amendment will enhance its impact, particularly for small businesses.
By doing so, we can ensure that this program continues responsibly,
providing small business owners access to affordable capital. I’m
thankful my commonsense amendment was adopted unanimously by my
colleagues, and I look forward to supporting its passage. I addressed
this issue on the floor of the U.S. House.

Since taking office, the Biden
Administration has implemented regulations costing Americans over $435
billion.
Among these burdensome regulations is the
Energy Conservation Standards for Distribution Transformers proposed
by the Department of Energy. This rule will improve efficiency by
merely one-tenth of one percent but will undoubtedly harm our already
burdened supply chain and increase costs for small businesses and
consumers. The Biden Administration must consider small businesses’
concerns before implementing these burdensome regulations. I addressed
this issue in the House Finance Committee. Click

On Thursday evening, as I made my way back from Washington, I
attended the Pottsville Area Development Corporation (PADCO) dinner in
downtown Pottsville. The event was held at two new and great local
businesses that were a part of PADCO’s launch Pottsville program. We
started at the Chopping Block, an axe-throwing bar, and we finished
with dinner at Arrow Studio and Events. (Pictured left to right
are State Senator Dave Argall, former State Representative and PADCO
President Mike Tobash, Schuylkill Chamber Executive Vice President Sam
Chivinski, PADCO Executive Director Savas Logothetides and State
Representative Tim Twardzik.)
IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE
MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Biden is up for re-election in less than a
year, and it’s not looking good for him… and that is good for the
United States.
According to a string of recent polls,
the outlook is not good for Joe Biden.
-
CBS
NEWS POLL: 73% of Americans say things are going BADLY in America
today — up from 65% at the beginning of the year.
-
ABC
NEWS POLL: 76% of adults say the country is headed in the wrong
direction.
-
NEW
YORK TIMES POLL: Biden is behind in swing states nationwide.
The polls are so bad, that the mainstream
media began openly
discussing Biden stepping aside, and former Obama advisor David
Axelrod came close to having a meltdown.
Biden has failed us on every major issue,
including:
In less than one year, Americans will
re-elect Donald J. Trump to the White House. America needs
problem-solving conservative leadership now more than ever.
On Tuesday, Pennsylvania voters went to
the polls. We had several important local elections that took place. I
want to congratulate our great GOP county commissioner and council
candidates who were successful, including:
- Bradford County - Daryl Miller and Doug
McLinko
- Berks County - Christian Leinbach and
Michael Rivera
- Columbia County - Dean Brewer and Randy
Karschner
- Lebanon County - Bob Phillips and Mike
Kuhn
- Luzerne County - Lee Ann McDermott and
Harry Haas
- Lycoming County - Scott Metzger and Marc
Portman
- Montour County - Rebecca Dressler and
Scott Lynn
- Northumberland County - Sam Schiccatano
and Joseph Klebon
- Schuylkill County - Boots Hetherington
and Larry Padora
- Sullivan County - Brian Hoffman and
Darlene Fenton
- Susquehanna County - Alan Hall and David
Darrow
- Wyoming County - Tom Henry and Rick
Wilbur
I want to congratulate the winners and all those who put their
names forward to serve.
We look forward to catching up with you next week. God Bless, and
see you soon,
Dan
