John, today is a day of deep gratitude as we honor America’s veterans.

Over 16 million of our parents, children, family, friends, and neighbors have served to protect the foundation of our democracy and the freedoms it affords to us.

As a senator, I consider it a solemn duty and obligation to ensure that our federal government repays the debt it owes for so many lifetimes of service.

By fully funding and staffing the Department of Veterans Affairs.

By ensuring that every veteran covered by President Biden’s toxic burn pits legislation receives the health care and benefits they are owed.

By guaranteeing that every veteran has access to housing, job training, and education to lead a fulfilling life after they’ve hung up their uniform for the last time.

That’s what I’ll always fight for as long as I can.

For all of those who fought on our behalf, it’s the very least we can do.

To all of those who have served — we owe you a debt of gratitude. We drink from wells of liberty and opportunity that we did not dig ourselves.

And for a debt that can never be paid back, it is up to each and every one of us to pay it forward.

With love and gratitude,

Cory
