John,

You read that correctly. 10 Emerge New Mexico wins and one run-off election! Thus far, that gives us a 63% win rate in the 2023 Regular Local Election.

And here are a few highlights about our Emerge New Mexico alums who made history.

  • Ronalda Tome-Warito will be the first Native American woman to serve on the Albuquerque Public School Board and will represent District 2.
  • Janelle Astorga, a first time candidate, won her race to represent Albuquerque Public School Board, District 1.

In fact, Emerge New Mexico alums won vital seats on school boards across the State, ensuring New Mexico's students and teachers will be represented by members who are dedicated to their growth and success. School Board races across the country have become increasingly vital, and we are so proud of the Emerge New Mexico alums for protecting the integrity of these seats.

These wins move us one step closer to ensuring that Emerge women and non-binary leaders are representing New Mexicans in nearly every level of government. Join us in congratulating those who won their races, and Nichole Rogers who is heading to a runoff.

Finally, thank you to the amazing 16 Emerge New Mexico alums who ran for office! We are so proud of and inspired by all of you.

By standing up, you all made a significant difference in New Mexico's political landscape and paved the way for the future. We know that you will continue to lead your communities, far past the election. We cannot wait to see what you do next and we are so excited to cheer you along every step of the way.

In community and solidarity,

Sondra Roeuny, Ed.D. M.P.P.
