Firearms are the second leading cause of death of children in the United States.
It’s our mission to make this country safer from gun violence. However, many victims of this violence are the nation’s most vulnerable — children — and we need to do everything we can to protect them now and in the future.
Right now, gun violence in America is shaping the way our children live in the present and think about the future. Their lives are forever changed when they witness or survive school shootings.
One commonsense way to prevent our children from these disturbing realities is to enact universal background checks, a measure supported by over 90% of Americans.
Every year, 1,600 children and teens are shot and killed, and thousands more are shot and wounded in America. These incidences are heartbreaking and preventable.
American children shouldn’t have to live in fear due to tragedies we can help prevent.
The most vulnerable in our country need legislation that protects them. Universal background checks will help protect our children now and in the future.
