The event began with a kick-off event at Amazon's HQ2 in National Landing. Dr. Liza Wilson Durant, chair of the Arlington Chamber’s Education and Workforce Development Committee and associate provost for strategic initiatives and community engagement at George Mason University gave opening remarks, along with Arlington Chamber President & CEO Kate Bates, and Patrick Phillippi, Senior Manager of Community Engagement for Amazon. Following the kick-off, students visited one of thirteen job sites across Arlington. Over a two-hour period, students at job sites received an overview of the company, were introduced to staff members and learned about career opportunities in that job sector.
