After weeks of chaos and dysfunction, House Republicans have just voted Mike Johnson — a man who played a critical role in trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election and spearheaded the Texas lawsuit (with Ken Paxton!) to overturn 62 electoral college votes — as the new speaker.

Giving Mike Johnson the speakership is handing control of the House over to MAGA extremists.

Mike Johnson is now second in line to the presidency, and his leadership poses a serious threat to our democracy, our country, and our fundamental freedoms.

The results of yesterday’s election are appalling.
