Hey everyone, Kim Driscoll here.

This Tuesday, November 7th, is Election Day in many cities and towns across Massachusetts and offers us all a key chance to help continue moving our state forward.

Maura and I know local elections matter for the work we do at the state level, the partnerships we make, and the work that needs to be done on the ground in our communities. That’s why we need you to turn out to vote!

In 2005 when I ran for Mayor of Salem, I was an underdog, and the odds were pretty long. With the help of my friends and neighbors, I won and became the first woman elected Mayor of Salem.

Salem had big challenges, but they weren’t insurmountable. A big reason was that early on, I was able to form strong working relationships with our state government. That was huge. It helped me bring investment into Salem to build infrastructure that helped connect us to the rest of the state, revitalize our commercial center, strengthen our education system and our economy.

Today, Salem has record reserve funds and a thriving downtown. We’re now a national leader in offshore wind, our tourism sector is booming, and more people than ever want to build a life there. And partnering with our state government was a big piece of how I delivered on my promise to rebuild our community.

I ran for Lieutenant Governor because I wanted to be that partner for towns across Massachusetts. The Healey-Driscoll Administration has made historic steps to work as closely as possible with our mayors and local governments, making sure that every city and town have the resources they need to succeed.

Local elections matter. When the rubber meets the road, local elected officials make a huge difference in the success of your communities. My promise to you is that Maura and I will be right with them, supporting your communities every step of the way.

As someone who’s a former Mayor, current Lieutenant Governor, and forever big fan of teamwork, thanks for making your voice heard. It matters!
