Rep. Troy E. Nehls Votes 'YES' to Pass Appropriations Bills Greetings! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap on what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives. This Week in Washington Rep. Troy E. Nehls Votes 'YES' to Pass Israel Appropriations Package The United States House of Representatives came together in bipartisan support to pass the Israel Supplemental Appropriations package, which would provide supplemental appropriations to support missile defense systems like the Iron Dome and additional military equipment for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), while also replenishing U.S. weapons stocks and fully offsetting the cost of this assistance. This $14.3 billion emergency supplemental appropriations package is fully offset through cuts from Joe Biden’s so-called “Inflation Reduction Act,” which appropriated enhanced funding for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to target hardworking Americans. Israel, our nation’s greatest ally in the Middle East, is under attack by Hamas, Iran-backed terrorists. The attacks on Israel by Hamas are barbaric. Women and children are being murdered in the streets at the hands of terrorists. I will always stand with Israel. Rep. Troy E. Nehls' Amendment Included in the Department of Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Package The Biden Administration is attempting to limit the number of air tours at a number of our national parks due to an effort spearheaded by radical environmental groups. These environmental groups claim that the noise of the air tours disturbs visitors and the wildlife at the parks. However, air tours give families, the elderly, and the disabled the opportunity to view our nation's parks. To limit the elderly and disabled from being able to experience our country's beautiful and vast landscapes is simply un-American. I introduced an amendment to the Department of Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies appropriations package which would prohibit the National Park Service from placing any limitation on the amount of air tours at our national parks. I'm proud to announce that my amendment passed the House and was included in the appropriations package. Every American should have the opportunity to view and experience our country's national parks. Watch my remarks on the House Floor HERE. Rep. Troy E. Nehls Votes 'YES' to Pass Department of Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Package This week, the House of Representatives passed the Department of Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies appropriations package which cuts wasteful spending within the federal government. This legislation protects hunting, fishing, and recreational activities, and includes pro-American energy policies. Additionally, this legislation includes a 39% cut to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), blocks the Biden Administration's radical Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule, limits abuse of the Endangered Species Act, and claws back billions of dollars from Joe Biden's so-called "Inflation Reduction Act." I proudly voted 'YES' on this legislation, which passed the House on November 3, 2023. I'm proud to secure wins for TX-22 and the American people. This Week in TX-22 Veterans History Project Submissions Are Now Open I am pleased to announce that submissions to the Veterans History Project (VHP) is now open to veterans residing in TX-22 who served in the U.S. military in any capacity. VHP accepts veterans’ personal narratives in the forms of original, unedited audio-and video-recorded interviews, photographs, letters, diaries, journals, military documents, two-dimensional artwork, maps, and unpublished memoirs that meet minimum requirements. Researchers, scholars and educators rely upon VHP collections as a primary source. These oral histories, photographs, manuscripts and other original materials are a rich supplement to historical texts, and a valued cultural resource. Veterans’ family members treasure the memories that are permanently preserved at the Library of Congress for future generations. A briefing will be scheduled prior to your interview in order to answer questions and prepare participants. Pre-interviews may also be scheduled during this time. Date, time and location will be announced once we receive the list of interested participants. If interested please provide your name, phone number, and email address to: [email protected]. For more information, you may call (713) 806-8878. Information About the Ongoing Situation in Israel The Department of State continues to closely monitor the security situation in Israel. The Department has a 24/7 coordinating group communicating with U.S. citizens and providing them assistance through phone calls and an online form. U.S. citizens seeking to be in touch with the U.S. Embassy in Israel can fill out the form ([link removed]) or call 1-833-890-9595 or 1-606-641-0131. While commercial flights remain available and should be considered a first option, the State Department will soon offer departure assistance to American citizens through chartered transportation. American citizens who want to leave Israel on USG-chartered transportation must submit a Crisis Intake Form. After submitting a Crisis Intake Form, American citizens can expect an email from the State Department with additional guidance imminently. Please check your spam/junk mailboxes if you do not receive an email. For more information, please visit my website, or call my district office at (346) 762-6600.
