John,
Twin Metals’ plan for exploratory drilling just upstream of the Boundary Waters was just approved. [[link removed]] This drilling is being undertaken in order to advance a mine UNDER Birch Lake, which flows directly into the Wilderness. This is perhaps the company’s most dangerous proposal yet.
We are deeply disappointed in this decision, but it makes one thing crystal clear: we need permanent protection for the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and its watershed.

Thanks to a group of concerned Boundary Waters advocates, we just received a surprise triple match that runs out tomorrow at midnight. [[link removed]] Take advantage of this opportunity to show Twin Metal’s we are in this for the long haul and won’t back down.
