About the Documentary:

"Gaza Fights for Freedom is a documentary that tells the story of Gaza, past and present, showing rare archival footage that explains the history never acknowledged by mass media. It depicts the Great March of Return protests in the Gaza Strip that began in 2018."

🧤Volunteer for ATLDSA's Winter Clothing Drive!❄️

Atlanta DSA is organizing our annual Winter Clothing Drive, and we need your help! The Winter Drive will run Oct. 30-Jan. 30, and comrades will be collecting blankets, masks, medical supplies, hand warmers and more during November and December to distributed to folks in need around metro Atlanta. Sign up here to be a Winter Drive Captain, and be responsible for a donation drop box location in the Metro Atlanta area! All members in good standing across Metro Atlanta are encouraged to sign up!

In the coming weeks, we'll make public a list of drop box locations. In the meantime, if you'd like to donate clothing or supplies to the drive, drop them off at our office at 711 Catherine St SW the next time you attend a DSA meeting, or donate to fund supplies at atldsa.org/donate.

🌳New This Week: Science Fiction Reading Group📚

Atlanta DSA's Political Education Committee is starting a new reading series centered on socialist science fiction.

We're starting with a Solarpunk anthology book called Sunvault: Stories of Solarpunk and Eco-Speculation.

Join us at Chattahoochee Coffee Company in West Midtown to discuss ideas on what the future might look like and what we can do to get there.

You can get a copy of the book here.

✊ No Money for Massacres. Stand with Palestine! ✊

The recent events in Gaza are alarming, and risk spiraling into further violence and death. Last night, Israel ordered the evacuation of 1.1 million people from the northern part of Gaza in preparation for a possible ground invasion, per a UN spokesperson. Right now, US Congress is preparing to use our tax dollars to fund a genocide of Palestenian people. Please take action NOW to urge Congress to support a ceasefire and de-escalation in Gaza!

🌹A Year in Review: ATLDSA's Labor Work⚙

Every day, billions of working people on Earth toil to maintain a capitalist economy they never asked for. While technological advances and general prosperity have spread beyond the borders of the most advanced countries, the “golden age” of capitalism is over. For the majority of people on the planet, including in the United States, life is getting harder. Capitalism is working overtime to preserve the power and profits of the wealthy at the expense of the rest of us.

In light of this, DSA’s goal is to fight for all working people’s ability to democratically control their own lives in all areas of society and the economy. To achieve that goal, we need two things: the involvement of millions to make a mass movement, and the leverage to win back power from the capitalist class. The only way DSA is going to get what we need to win is by organizing as workers and uniting with organized labor, so we can attack the source of capitalists’ power: their profits.
