It's been another busy week in TX-23 and D.C. I am proud to serve our district in Congress. Each day, I work to address your concerns and protect our liberties. From helping you navigate federal casework to addressing your concerns, my team and I are always here to help. Please read below for some updates on my recent work representing you in Washington, D.C. and back home in TX-23. Securing Resources to Combat the Border Crisis Since day one, I have prioritized finding tangible solutions to fixing the crisis at our border. Operation Stonegarden is a federal grant program that has played a key role in doing so by giving local law enforcement the resources they need to catch bad actors and deter illegal immigration. Nearly one-third of Operation Stonegarden funding allocated to Texas for Fiscal Year 2023 went to TX-23. The $13 million provided to my district represents the largest amount received by any congressional district in the U.S. for this year. Uniting for our Servicemembers This week, I was honored to meet with Sgt. Major of the Army, Michael R. Weimer. There are times when a handshake means more than a handshake. Sgt. Major, Weimer and I share a commitment to our enlisted force and our nation. I’m proud of his service and dedication to our troops. Delivering for Our Veterans The hurdles our veterans often face when trying to enter the civilian workforce after their service has concluded can be a tall task. This week, I joined Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) and Veteran Jobs Mission to discuss flexible employment opportunities to support our servicemembers and their families after their return to private life. Our military families sacrifice everything to serve us, now it’s time we serve them. American Energy for the American Economy Since day one of the Biden administration, energy independence has been sacrificed for a rush to green agenda. Congress must put America back on track by unleashing our domestic energy sources. This week, House Republicans PASSED the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Act. This legislation will improve our energy security and economic competitiveness by ensuring that not another drop of American oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is sold to our overseas adversaries, like China. Our domestic energy resources are capable of fueling American innovation and spurring economic growth right here at home. Social Media Recap My team and I are always available to assist you.
